French-Canadian vocalist, a pop and soul artist, Celine Dion overwhelmed the pop music charts in the 1990s. She still is no different but a star like before, singing to the hearts. Celine has the second spot in the list of most earning music artist in the history.

Celine Dion (1)Born on March 30, 1968, in Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada, Celine Dion was youngest of her siblings. Her parents visited Canada while Celine was still a baby. Later, they opened a piano bar there, where Celine loved to perform while she was just 5. At the age of 12, after hearing the beautiful voice, Celine was signed immediately by Rene Angelil for her debut album.  Celine Dion had recorded nine French collections and won various honors when she was 18. She recorded her first English collection, Unison, in 1990, that sold millions of copies worldwide.  Dion’s genuine leap forward into popular music fame came in 1992, when she recorded a song for Disney’s movie ‘Beauty and the Beast’, for which she won an Academy Award as well as a Grammy. Dion went ahead to record a few hits.

Celine Dion (3)In 1993, Celine’s album ‘The Colour of My Love’ was released which comprised of a collection of romantic songs including ‘The Power of Love’, which was her first song to reach No. 1 position in Billboard Hot 100. She married Angelil in 1994. The year 1997 hold significantly more prominent brilliance for Dion, when the blockbuster film Titanic released, for which Dion sang the signature melody, “My Heart Will Go On”. The movie won 11 Oscars, including the award for best song. Dion’s song had turned out to be omnipresent on radio stations far and wide. Dion got the National Order of Quebec, her province’s most prestigious award, in 1998.

Dion’s 1997 album ‘Let’s Talk About Love’ won the album of the year. She won six awards at Billboard Music Awards. In 2000, she took some time off her career to focus on her personal life. Following a two-year rest, Celine Dion returned in March 2002 with A New Day Has Come, which was a success. While Dion no longer commands the charts as she once did, Celine Dion remains a famous performer and is praised by audiences around the world.
