Tyson Fury’s name omitted on The Ring Magazine’s top 10 pound-for-pound list

Despite winning the WBC heavyweight bout between him and Deontay Wilder,
Tyson Fury failed to make The Ring Magazine’s pound-for-pound top 10 list.
The Gypsy King like he is fondly called, won long term rival Deontay Wilder after seven rounds, during their much anticipated rematch in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Undefeated Fury who is now regarded as the best heavyweight champ on the planet ahead of fellow Briton, Anthony Joshua, failed to make The Ring Magazine’s latest pound-for-pound list.

Fury after knocking out Wilder last Saturday
According to Anson Wainwright, one of the panelist for The Ring Magazine, Fury as a great fighter.
He said this while speaking on why Fury failed to make the list, ”Although not aesthetically pleasing on the eye, Fury is a heck of a fighter,” he said.
Admitting that, ”I’d like to see him enter the mythical pound-for-pound list off that outstanding win, but I don’t really want to see Manny Pacquiao drop out.”
Another panelist, Martin Mulcahey, agreed with the decision, he said: ”I don’t think defeating a one-dimensional puncher twice elevates Fury into the pound-for-pound top 10, not to mention his struggle against Otto Wallin.
”Yes, it was a very impressive victory but not as good as Pacquiao over Thurman for the last spot.
”Heavyweights are just not as talented as other divisions, so it’s harder for someone, even as talented as Fury, to accumulate credit.
Adding that, ”If Fury beats Anthony Joshua, then I will reconsider.”
Topping the list is, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, the Mexican four-division world champion, followed by Vasyl Lomachenko, who will be facing Teofimo Lopez later in 2020, sitting in second place.
Rated third is Japan’s brilliant bantamweight Naoya Inoue, while Terence Crawford is in fourth position with Oleksandr Usyk, who moved up to heavyweight last year after he unified the cruiserweight division in 2018, taking the fifth spot.
More so, in sixth place is American welterweight Errol Spence, two-time world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin is rated seventh, while Juan Estrada, the Mexican super flyweight champion is on the eighth spot.
Russian light-heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev is ninth, and a very surprising inclusion in 10th place is Manny Pacquiao.

ESPN P4P Ranking
Although the Gypsy King failed to make The Ring Magazine’s top 10 pound-for-pound list, he comes in at number 7 on the latest ESPN P4P rankings, which gives hope of future recognition by other panelists.
